Steve Warburton, CEO Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in joining LCL. I hope the information here helps you learn more about our organisation, our achievements, challenges, ambitions and values. LCL is a contractual joint venture service jointly owned by the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust and  Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Formed in 2013 following the initial reviews into Pathology reconfigurations, LCL aspires to be at the vanguard of change in the region and is recognised as a provider of a wide range of pathology services for the North Mersey region and specialist pathology services across Cheshire & Merseyside and other parts of the North West and beyond.  With an annual turnover of over £50 million, c.550 staff and 4 laboratory locations, we are recognised as a leading provider of pathology services with excellent feedback from our service users.

As CEO of Aintree University Hospital,  I have been Chair of LCL for the last 2 years and I have been inspired by the quality of the services provided by our colleagues in LCL.  I have found this to be a high performing and professional organisation which is clear about its priorities and committed to working in partnership with service users. The organisation continues to grow and develop and is in the process of formally integrating the Regional Genetics service into the LCL model to support the formation of the regional genomics hub. 2018 will see the occupancy of the new purpose built main hub laboratory on the Liverpool Health campus site, adjacent to the Royal Liverpool Hospital and in 2016 a refurbishment of the laboratory has been completed on the Aintree Hospital site.

As the largest pathology provider in the region, the LCL Medical Director, Dr Jim Anson holds a leading role in the STP discussions and the opportunity to influence the future direction of pathology services would be a realistic prospect for the successful candidate.

This appointment represents a chance to join our leadership team at a time of change in the region.  We are seeking leaders who can bring challenge, support, innovation and passion to the team.  We are welcoming of any histopathology specialist interest, combined with an interest in research and teaching. Tenacity, resilience and  a commitment to our values will be essential. I do encourage you to read further and to call Emma Pickup at GatenbySanderson on 0113 205 6289 for a confidential discussion.

I look forward to meeting you during the process.

Steve Warburton
CEO Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
